Saddleworth Round Table 558 2011 Beerwalk Rules of Entry

All entrants must be over 18 years of age and no persons under the age of 18 are allowed to accompany entrants on the route of the walk. (Please be aware that by law, only persons over 18 can be given alcohol or take part in street collections.)

The use of super soaker water pistols is not permitted.

Only those people that can produce an official Beerwalk token as issued at the start of the event will be given a drink at the various beer stops.

Entrants must keep to the route specified and should report to the control point at each listed beer station.

One beer token is equivalent to one can of beer. No more than one beer token may be exchanged for beer at each listed beer station. Entrants are not permitted to save unused beer tokens for a bulk exchange. Unused beer tokens become void. Please bear in mind that whilst we want the Beerwalk to be great fun for everyone involved, the main purpose of the event is to raise money for worthwhile charities.

Any entrant judged to be drunk or disorderly or acting in a dangerous manner will be disqualified at the sole discretion of the officials.

Only participants who have obtained street collection licences in advance from the local authorities are entitled to collect money on the day from the general public. Such licences must be produced on registration at the start of the event; official Beerwalk collecting stickers will then be issued to enable the public, the police and the organizers to readily identify genuine collectors. Licence holders are only allowed to have as many collectors as they have been granted permission for and every collector must be a participant in the Beerwalk, not merely accompanying other entrants.

Anyone failing to comply with street collection legislation will be immediately suspended from the Beerwalk, as well as being liable to summons by the Police.

Entrants should remain aware at all times of other members of the public. Bad behaviour towards other members of the public or their property can lead to adverse publicity, giving the Beerwalk a bad name and threatening the future of the event. Please avoid causing an obstruction or nuisance to pedestrians or motorists. On no account must any vehicle be stopped along the route, anyone so doing will be disqualified from the walk.

To ensure that congestion is minimized and to enable access (especially for emergency vehicles) entrants must use designated car parks in Greenfield / Uppermill away from the start of the walk.

Entry of floats into the walk will be dealt with on a first-come first-served basis, and plans for the floats must be approved by the organizers (via submission of the attached Application Form) no later than 3 weeks prior to the start of the Beerwalk.   All fancy dress and props must be capable of being carried by one person (except with prior    written approval by the organizers.)

Entrants must take responsibility for ensuring that none of their team’s costume, props or floats are discarded along the route. Please take your rubbish home with you, or place it in the skip at the end of the Beerwalk and help keep Saddleworth tidy!

No party shall have any right of action against Saddleworth Round Table or any other officials involved in organizing and running the event.

No support vehicles are allowed to follow walkers on the route.
